Architectural Reading

The Capital of Minnesota

This is the Minnesota State Capital.
It was designed by Cass Gilbert. He has done a lot of famous buildings such as this one, the Virginia State Capital, the United States Supreme Court Building,
the Woolworth Building, the Arkansas State Capital,
and many libraries and museums. This is the third Minnesota Capital, and is far greater in grandeur than the first two. It is an outstanding example of architecture. It is styled after Saint Peter's Basilica. It's dome is the second largest unsupported marble dome in the world! There is a lot of marble in the building, from all the pillars, to the floor. When it was built in 1905, it cost 4.5 million U.S. dollars. Now, one hundred years later, it is valued at 400 million U.S. dollars.
I recommend going here. I have been here.
