Burj Al Arab

This is Burj Al Arab

This is a hotel that is 1,053 ft. tall!
It has 205 rooms.
It has many different suites ranging from the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite to the Presidential Suite, the the Royal Deluxe Suite, with prices ranging from $1,000-$27,000 per night!
The hotel is shaped like a sail, and represents Dubai as a coastal city.
The hotel is built on an artificial island 280 meters of shore. It is reached by a curving private road. The island took as long to build as the building itself.
230 40-meter concrete  piles were driven in to the sand to create a secure foundation.
Then large rocks were laid at the surface of the water on top of the concrete piles.
Around the outside edge, the rocks were set in a honeycomb shape to prevent erosion of the rocks.
The building is made with more than 70,000 cubic yards and 9,000 tons of steel.
Here is an interesting fact: When the building was built and the air conditioning was put in, to bring it to a cool temperature the temperature had to be lowered 1 degree a day at a time because if it went any faster a rain cloud would form in the huge atrium!
The atrium has over an acre of gold plating. This is certainly the most extravagant hotel in the world!
